when i opened it, it did nothing.
turns out it was a virus and thankfully i got rid of it.
Can anyone tell me if the virus is sent only as an attachment or is it transmitted just by opening up the email itself?

i just talked to a friend who is still a jw and she said there was a letter read last night at her k.hall that said that what was on dateline was a lie and not to listen to it.
i asked her if she watched the show and she said yes she had and she couldn't believe the lies that they told.
she also said " oh but did you see that girl erica larson was wearing a cross on her necklace?
Amazing....the JW said because Erica was wearing a cross, all she says should automatically be considered as "lies".
How about the actual words we all heard the "brother" from the legal department say, that proved the WTS itself was lying.
What is written in the pages of the JW mags is NOT what they put into practice in all congregations....and just because someone's congregation did inform the authorities as they should, there are many more congregations that didn't and instead silenced the victim.
So JW people...let's look at the whole picture here and see all the facts. They speak louder than the printed page.

right now my body is half shaven with needle marks and bruises everywhere.
if i were stopped on the streets of chicago looking like this, staggering with fatigue, i would be arrested.
something we men have a hard time getting through our thick heads is that just because we feel basically okay, does not mean that we can or should do a lot physically after a traumatic event ... and i found this out by doing a little too much walking at the hospital chest tightened, became out of breath, and got dizzy.

Take time to sit in your yard and listen to the birds, smell the flowers, look at the beauty around you and slowly build up your strength.
btw...nice to hear you refer to Dateline as a "first round". I'm hoping there will be a follow-up with more details brought out once they see the interest this has stirred up.

Perhaps the info that AlanF provided for us (Alan, how do you find these things out?) should be added to Stark's list of credentials. Being paid off (ooops I mean "funded") by the Scientologists to prove they are not a cult and that cults don't exist...wow...that's impressive!!![8>]
I'm usually not so sarcastic, but when an avid JW suggests that I should look at the "official" JW site to get the "real truth", I get real testy being subjected to this kind of drivel...an real insult to my intelligence.

What is your point in posting this view of someone being used by the WTS as an authority (Dr???) they agree with.
Do you agree with this opinion or are you posting this to show us what the WTS's latest spin on the WTS website is on opposers?
Personally, I find his "authoritative opinion" rather juvenile.
"There are very very few people going around with nasty tales about being a Witness". How many is a "very very few". Obviously he has not read any of the posts many many have posted just here alone.
To label someone who opposes the WTS policies and beliefs as a "sorehead" that should be ignored...obviously just because he disagrees with the WTS is just too unbelievably ignorant of real life.
This "Dr" should be embarrassing to the WTS...it is to me to think I once was an avid JW... and to think that this is an example of what their stand is. sheesh!!!!

below is an e-mail i received from a former sister in the pacific northwest.
she was df'd several months ago for discovering and asking about the un controversy.
being rather inexperienced with the internet, she stumbled onto freeminds.org (i believe) and printed out info on the wts's un connection.
Thank you Freepeace for posting this dear lady's story. It completely boggles the mind to know how callous and totally self-absorbed too many of these so-called "shepherds" can be.
Please let her know how bad we feel for all the pain and suffering her family has gone through at the hands of such totally incompetent dweebs. To go through losing a child because of one scripture being mis-applied, and have more injury heaped on you over learning about the UN scandal, is treatment that is inexcusable.
Please let her know how welcome she will be here if she chooses to drop in.

Has anyone gotten an email with the subject "Postcards for you"?
I just received one and don't want to click onto it without knowing who sent it to me.
It doesn't have an attachment to click onto but does have a "click here" to receive your postcard. In small letters below that it has a website URL like http://postcards.rin.ru/postcard/humor and then ends in html. It also invites you to visit their website which is "Russion Information Network".
I typed in the website address and the site is all in Russian.
This all looked kinda wierd to me so...just wondering if anyone else has received anything like this.

i just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.
on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.
he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.
